Palazzo Marziale - Sorrento

The location was magnificent, rooms were first class, breakfast was great!!

As Australians the lack of English speaking people - definitely not a big deal.

Fantastic building in a marvellous location. Good breakfasts, lovely rooms, nice staff...no complaints. It's setup allowed for an indepedent, relaxing stay, almost like an apartment stay really.

The hotel was a former palace and was very unique. Had a great feel. Great central location!

The beds were very uncomfortable, especially the bed sheets. The sheets were rough like sand paper, which made sleeping very difficult.

Palazzo Marziale is a lovely old building in the centre of Sorrento opposite the Church of San Francesco. Our room was big with a comfortable bed and a large marble bathroom. We were there on Good Friday and watched the Easter processions at 3.00am and 9.00pm from our balcony overlooking the square. Continental breakfast - good choice but no cooked option. It is a short stroll to a wide variety of restaurants and shops and transport links are good. It is a 10 minute walk to the station for trains to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius and buses to Amalfi. The Marina Piccolo is a 10 minute walk downhill for boats to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.

On the downside some of the bathroom fittings are a bit 'tired'. Also there is no reception and the staff are friendly but do not speak English. However there are phone numbers to enable you to contact someone in the event of an emergency and the tourist office is about 200 metres away where English speaking staff can give you information about the area and bus, boat and train timetables.

Excellent location, beautiful rooms and common area, and a great breakfast.

The atmosphere and the setting of the beautiful historic building it resides in.

Parking is a bit complicated but it is organized well considering the conditions of Sorrento.

We found this hotel exceeding expectations. The place is a real palace and it has the ambiance, we stayed at the junior suit and it was very big. The bath tub was almost as big as a pool!!, It would be awsome if the Jakuzi was working The location is at the heart of Sorrento, and the entrance wasn't like regular hotels so it took us a few minutes to figure out if the gps had taken us to the correct place The staff was very helpful and kind, the breakfast wasn't too large but had everything and tastes were very good.

We were with another couple and they were happy too, they may have issue with the bed in regular room

Very good location, right in the center of Sorrento. Building is fantastic, with rustic essence. Staff was very helpful. Room was very clean

Parking service was inappropriate as it is not within the property or even around it. It was actually an independent service and the guy who was about to pick up the car to take it to the parking (said to be 10' away) was not willing to leave us with any document, actually proving that he took delivery of the car, not to mention that he was rude. Suggest to use nearby parking areas, independent to the hotel for similar cost. Internet connection was a bit slow in the room, but was existent

Friendly and attentative staff Position

Excellent location with clean spacious rooms! The staff here is outstanding! We were dealing with the issue of a lost wallet and could not believe how helpful the owner was. She went above and beyond the norm in helping us to resolve the situation. It was very much unexpected and greatly appreciated. We would stay here again anytime.

Beautiful building and room in an Excellent location.

No issue. However we were not advised that a lift was available, instead we took a bus which was uncomfortable with luggage.

Great location, good for a quiet relaxing stay

Palazzo Marziarle was formerly a private home so it has an intimate feel. You enter through a huge nondescript wooden door that really looks like a private residence. The rooms are spacious and we were able to comfortably fit two roll away beds for our sons and still have plenty of room with a king-size bed (beautiful linens), sofa, table and chairs, desk and huge closet. We had breakfast included and it was a typical continental breakfast with pastries, cornetti, fruit, yougurt, coffee and juices, served in a pretty round breakfast room. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the Church of San Francesco. There was a wedding scheduled each of the two days we were there and we had a great vantage point to see the wedding parties entering the church. We also had a view of orange trees and flowering vines and a partially obstructed view of the bay. The Palazzo is located steps awy to the elevator which descends to the beach and also in walking distance of all the restaurants and shops. One added bonus was a fruit truck which pulls up each afternoon right outside with an adorable elderly couple. You can buy the most delicious fresh fruit you ever had.

Just know that most Italian hotels do not seem to have irons so either bring your own or pay to have your clothes pressed.
